Chicken Tacos are perfect if you’re looking for easy, healthy dinner ideas on days you can’t face cooking. This 10 minute recipe is the ultimate shortcut to a delicious family dinner.
When life is ridiculously busy, we all need some cheat recipes to hand. Family dinner ideas that keep the pressure off while still making sure everyone is fed and happy.
These 10 minute Chicken Tacos use pre-cooked chicken and a ready-made sauce.
Yes, we’re cutting some serious corners here, and the end dish is still deliciously satisfying.
Are these the best Chicken Tacos you’ll ever eat in your life? Perhaps not. Are they the quickest? Probably!
They can also be served hot or cold.

Use up leftover chicken
You can cook the chicken yourself rather than using precooked, or you could use this recipe with Roast Chicken leftovers.
You can also use this recipe for leftovers of my Oven Baked Chicken Fajita recipe too – two meal ideas for the price of one!
Chicken Tacos Ingredients Notes
- Chicken – I use cooked chicken from a pack (approximately x2 240g packs), but you can use any kind of cooked chicken you like
- Barbecue sauce – Again, it’s all about the shortcuts here so I use one from a bottle. Obviously you can go for homemade if you prefer
- Tortilla wraps – I use small tortilla wraps as they’re easier to handle
- For the filling – Sweetcorn, lettuce, red onion and lime juice
- Optional serving suggestions – Grated cheese, sour cream or yoghurt, salsa and avocado
How to make Chicken Tacos
There’s no real cooking to speak of with this recipe, apart from perhaps the tortillas.
- Mix the cooked chicken in a bowl with barbecue sauce, then either heat that up if you want to, or you can serve them cold.
- Toast the wraps, serve the chicken into them and add your extras. That’s honestly it!
Leftovers
In the fridge You can keep this recipe in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat fully before serving or eat cold.
In the freezer This is obviously not the kind of meal you can freeze as one, however if you have added the chicken coating and have some left over, you can freeze them for another time, AS LONG as they haven’t previously been frozen.
Recipe Tip
When it comes to heating the tortillas, I like to toast the wraps (CAREFULLY) over an open gas flame to give them some texture, but you can also warm them in the oven according to the packet instructions.

FAQs
I love to serve this recipe with grated cheese, sour cream or yoghurt, salsa and avocado. You could always bulk the meal out with some homemade wedges, couscous or a Mexican salad too if you like.
No, these are definitely not authentic Mexican tacos. They are fillings packed into a taco wrap, hence the name. If you have more time and are looking for a more authentic Mexican Chicken Tacos meal, you should definitely check out Mexican Please blog.
