If you love pasta (who doesn’t?) and find yourself reaching for the same old dishes on those plate-spinning days when people are running in and out of the door at different times, you need this Tortellini Lasagne idea.
Is it really a lasagne? No. Is it layered pasta with tomato sauce and cheese on top? Kind of. Is it ready in 10 minutes for a fuss-free, super-fast feast? Oh YES!
It’s also really delicious and tastes as though far more effort has gone into it than really has.

About this recipe
I love it when I find a new budget meal that’s easy but pleases everyone at dinnertime because it’s a bit different and has loads of flavour.
The ingredients are simple and cheap too, so you can have them in the cupboard ready for busy days or even weekends when you can’t be bothered to cook.
Other shortcut meals for when the day calls for it that are similar to this (and that I also love) are my Quick Chicken Tacos, Naan Bread Pizzas and Halloumi Burgers – all huge treats, delicious, quick and total cheats!
And if it’s 10-minute pasta dishes you’re after, try my Classic Tuna Pasta Salad, my Easy Macaroni Cheese, my Creamy Garlic Prawn Pasta, my Creamy Cheese Pasta and my Pesto Pasta Salad (more like 15 minutes).
Tortellini Pasta Bake Ingredients notes
- Tortellini – You can use the dry or fresh fridge kind from the supermarket. I use 2 x 250g packs of fresh Spinach and Ricotta Tortellini.
- Homemade sauce: This is a simple tomato pasta sauce – so much healthier than the processed stuff you get in a jar and it’s so easy! It’s made up of pasta, garlic granules, oregano, honey, tomato puree and a bit of salt and pepper.
Substitutions
- Fresh pasta – This is a vegetarian recipe but if you’d prefer some meat, you can just choose a different tortellini filling in the supermarket (eg. ham and cheese, chicken and bacon).
Reheating leftovers
In the fridge You can keep this recipe in the fridge for 3 days, although bear in mind this might be a little mushy when you reheat it as fresh pasta is more delicate.

FAQ
You can serve this up on its own for ease, but if you’d prefer to add some sides, stick to a simple green side salad and perhaps some garlic bread.

Very scrummy. I added the spinach to the sauce uncooked which was purely by mistake but still worked really well. The sauce is delicious!

Lovely simple dish, will definitely have this again! 🙂
Fantastic, so quick and my 13 year old ate spinach without complaint! Thank you for the work you pit in to make our lives easier.
So happy it was a help, thanks for the lovely comment xx
Delicious! Didn’t drain well enough but will know to do that next time!!
Made this tonight, so much nicer than the pasta with a tub of sauce. Felt like I’d made an effort when in reality it was a quick and easy dinner. Even MrB could make this 🙂 Great praise from those eating it too. Thank you!
Wat Tortellini filling type do you use in recipe
Mine was spinach and ricotta but whichever you fancy is good.
I am intolerant to honey, what could I use instead? Thanks
I’d just replace with some sugar Katie 🙂
Could I use frozen Spinach for this recipe
Yes! It will just take longer to boil in with the pasta so add it earlier.
Hello. Just want to say I love your recipes. Each week I aim to include at least one new one into our meal plan. It keeps things fresh and a way to taste new flavours. So thank you for taking your time to create this platform.
Could I please ask – I brought a bag a of frozen spinach in a BLW haze. Could this be used in the recipe?
Yes Rebecca, just will need a little longer cooking. Thanks for your kind words 🙂
