So many of you have asked for advice on which oven-proof pan to buy for one pot meals, I thought I’d put some favourites to the test – here are the results!
You know I’m a fan of one pan recipe, and many of my midweek meals are all thrown together in one trusty pot.
Working with the right pan can make such a huge difference to the results, so I thought I’d test some out for you to find the best buy (and I needed a new one too!).
It has been surprisingly difficult to find the right pan that does it all. For example, some great pans are then let down by having a lid that isn’t oven-safe or isn’t very non-stick.
Also, it’s worth noting that during the process of testing the pans, many prices went from being under £60 to closer to £100!
One-Pan Pan Reviews
⭐️ Top Pick for Value and Features⭐️
Masterclass Shallow Casserole Dish
PROS:This pan is a great size and goes everything really well. It ticks all the boxes of features I’m looking for and nothing seems to sticks at all. It’s also AMAZING value for money at about £40. It has a self-basting lid which keeps food nice and moist, which is a bonus. It’s OK for induction hobs too. CONS: Someone did tell me that this dish scratched her hob, and while I didn’t experience this issue, it’s worth noting and taking care. ROUND-UP:Oven safe ✅Grill safe ✅Dishwasher safe ✅Non-stick ✅Under £60 ✅Induction hob ✅
Pros: This pan holds the heat really well and seems to cook incredibly fast. Nothing sticks, so if you can find it at a good price point, it’s a good buy.Cons: I paid £50.99 for this but the cost has now skyrocketed and is currently (Nov 2022) nearer £80! It does feel very big and there isn’t a smaller version with two handles. ROUND-UP:Oven safe ✅Grill safe ✅Dishwasher safe ✅Non-stick ✅Under £60 ❌Induction hob ✅
Pros: It’s very light to handle and has a very good non-stick surface. It also washed really easily and is induction-hob friendly. I paid £43.99, which was the more affordable end of the scale compared to some of the pans I tested.Cons: While it is light, it perhaps feels a little cheap and not overly sturdy. The lid also felt a little clumsy as the seal isn’t as tight as others I tried out. It’s also only oven-safe without the lid! (I only worked this out hidden in the instructions or I wouldn't have tested it). I don’t think this is a long-lasting pan.ROUND-UP:Oven safe ➡️ YES, but only without the lidGrill safe ✅Dishwasher safe ✅Non-stick ✅Under £60 ✅Induction hob ✅
Pros:This had a well-fitting lid and sturdy handles. It’s also safe for induction hobs, oven and dishwasher and, while it doesn’t specify it's grill-safe, it does say heatproof, so you can make your own judgement! I really liked this pan but there was a cheaper option with enough of the same features to push this down my rankings slightly.Cons: This was slightly smaller than the others but was still an easy manageable size and suitable for a family of 3-4, but no more. (It does have a bigger version but it doesn’t have two handles.) It’s also more costly at the moment than the price cap I set myself. Also, it has already scratched which has pushed this further down my rankings.ROUND-UP:Oven safe ✅Grill safe ➡️ Not specified but as they are metal, I have used under the grill. Use your own judgement!Dishwasher safe ➡️ Dishwasher safe, but hand wash recommended to prolong the life of the product.Non-stick ✅Under £60 ❌Induction hob ✅
Pros: I am including this because people ask me about mine, which I’ve had for about 15 years. It looks beautiful and will last a lifetime. You can see from the photos above that it has a little staining but even after all this time is still going strong.Cons: It’s SO expensive and the non-stick can be tricky to use. It’s also very heavy, hard to handle and is a little style-over-function. ROUND-UP:Oven safe ✅Grill safe ✅Dishwasher safe ✅Non-stick ❌Under £60 ❌Induction hob ✅
Pros: As a direct comparison, this inspired-by-Le-Creuset dish also looks beautiful. It’s nice to use and is a very sturdy pan.Cons: It can be quite difficult to clean, isn’t non-stick and is quite heavy to lift. It goes in and out of stock, so isn’t always available unfortunately. Also, mine has a couple of little chips on the outside after using it for only 6 months. ROUND-UP:Oven safe ✅Grill safe ✅Dishwasher safe ❌Non-stick ❌Under £60 ✅Induction hob ✅

Hi, thanks for doing this. I bought the masterclass from Amazon and it’s amazing!
Just a warning though the handles get extremely hot even when using on the hob, I have caught myself a few times now!
Hi, thank you for this fab review. I’m always overwhelmed researching new kitchen things and this is a great help. What size do you use in the Master Class option?
Denby does a cast iron version and Tesco Clubcard vouchers can be exchanged for triple value at Denby, so the Le Creuset equivalent will cost only £50 in Tesco vouchers 👍🏼
Hi please can you tell me if you will be adding more vegan
