This One Pan Baked Dumplings recipe is SUCH a great shortcut, speedy dinner that’s delicious but takes little effort – perfect for those rushed days. You don’t even have to plan this one ahead thanks to mostly long shelf-life ingredients!

A pan of cooked Baked Dumplings in a stir fry sauce, ready to serve on a table with plates.

You know I love a Dump & Bake recipe any day of the week (especially busy ones) so when I saw this viral One Pan Baked Dumplings, I knew I had to give it a try.

This is definitely a cheat recipe (it uses ready made gyozas from the freezer) but I don’t care because IT WORKS.

I get no arguments from anyone – big or small – when I serve this up for dinner. My version has stir fry vegetables in so we’re also including a portion or two of veg = win!

Why you’ll love this Easy Baked Dumplings recipe

⭐️ Satisfying and tastes SO GOOD

Sarah’s Notes

Made famous on Tik Tok, it’s become a sensation because it’s easy, satisfying and totally delicious.

We’re using a flavour hybrid of frozen Asian-style dumplings for this recipe and a simple Thai-inspired sauce from store cupboard ingredients, and throwing in a pre-chopped bag of stir fry veg for good measure.

Simply pop your ingredients in a dish and the oven does the rest (‘Dump and Bake’ – get it?!)

My version was inspired by TikTok (I think the original creator was Danielle Brown, but please let me know if not!) This is my take on the trend.

Baked Dumplings Ingredients

The ingredients for making One Pan Baked Dumplings laid out on a white counter top.
  • For the sauce: Coconut milk (you can you reduced fat, but in our testing we definitely preferred the texture using full fat coconut milk), red Thai curry paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar.
  • Ginger and garlic – Fresh or frozen is fine.
  • Vegetables – A bag of fresh pre-chopped stir fry vegetables. Go for your favourite mix.
  • Dumplings (also known as gyoza or potstickers if you’re in the USA!) – These are in the frozen section in most supermarkets and you can choose whichever fillings you like.
  • To garnish – Spring onions and chilli crisp (this is a jarred condiment and tastes amazing!)

How to make Baked Dumplings

An oven dish with a whisk stirring a thai inspired sauce.

1. Mix the coconut milk, curry paste, soy, rice vinegar, grated ginger and garlic cloves together in a dish.

A red thai sauce in an oven dish with dumplings lined up in the pan, with stir fry vegetables around the side, ready to bake.

2. Stir in the vegetables, nestle in the dumplings and bake in the oven until the top of the dumplings are crispy, as per the recipe below. Garnish and serve.

Leftovers

In the fridge You can keep this recipe in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat fully before serving.

In the freezer This recipe does not freeze well, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Dumplings

I use gyoza-style dumplings in this recipe, here are different flavours to choose from, including chicken, beef, pork and prawn, and there are meat-free vegetarian ones too.

Quick note in case you’re confused: These are not British dumplings! They’re East Asian style with Chinese and Japanese origins. Definitely not our suet balls that we have in stews.

If you like this recipe, you’ll probably love my Gyoza Soup too, which takes about 15 minutes.

FAQs

What should I serve with this?

You can enjoy this on its own or with some sticky rice (or any rice), or perhaps some noodles.

HOw can I make this less spicy?

The heat is coming from the Thai red curry paste, so make sure you use one that’s not too explosive! And use a little less at first than the recipe says.

You can also make your own paste, which will allow you to have control over the spice level more.
