Advocaat Hot Chocolate

This Advocaat Hot Chocolate is a classic festive drink to enjoy at Christmas. It’s a bit like a snowball, but transformed into a hot chocolatey tipple. It’s such a delicious winter warmer cocktail!

Ingredients

  • 600 ml Milk Semi-skimmed or whole milk
  • 1 tbsp Cocoa
  • 1 tbsp Caster sugar
  • 100 g Dark chocolate About 50% cocoa works well
  • 3 tbsp Advocaat

To serve:

  • Marshmallows
  • Grated chocolate

Instructions

  • Put the milk, cocoa, sugar and dark chocolate in a small pan and warm very gently until everything is melted and smooth.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the Advoccat.
  • Pour into mugs and top with marshmallows and grated chocolate.

Notes

Cocoa: We’re adding 1tbsp per two people for this. If you can, using good quality cocoa will make a big difference. I use this one Organic Fairtrade Cocoa Powder
Caster sugar: 1tbsp between two servings
Dark chocolate: About 50% cocoa works well if you can get it. I use Callebaut 54% Dark Chocolate Chips – this chocolate is amazing and makes such a difference to all of my finished makes and bakes. If you buy in bulk, it works out to about the same price as supermarket chocolate too
To make in the slow cooker: Pour everything into your slow cooker (crock pot) and cook on low for at least 1 hour or until you want to serve
Nutritional value: Please note, these quantities do not include the Advocaat
