Course: Main Course
Cuisine: Chinese
Servings: 4
- 1 tsp Sunflower oil
- 500 g Beef mince
- 1 Onion Finely chopped
- 2 Cloves Garlic Peeled and crushed
- 1 tbsp Fresh ginger
- 2 Peppers (whichever colours you prefer)
- 1 tbsp Chinese 5 spice
- 500 g Microwave rice (x2 packs)
- 200 g Frozen peas
For the sauce:
- 3 tbsp Dark soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1/4 tsp Dried chilli flakes
To serve (optional):
- Spring onions (scallions) Sliced
Heat your oil in a heavy-bottomed frying pan or wok over a medium heat.
Add the beef mince and cook over a high heat for 5-10 minutes until browned all over.
Add the onion, garlic, fresh ginger, peppers and Chinese 5 spice and cook, stirring often, for a further 5 minutes or until the onion is starting to soften.
Meanwhile, make up the sauce with all of the ingredients.
Add the rice (you'll need to use a spoon or clean hands to crumble it as sometimes there are chunks stuck together in microwave pouches).
Add the peas, pour over the sauce and cook for 5-10 minutes until everything is hot through.
Garlic & Ginger - I like to use puree or pre-prepared frozen.
Beef mince: If you're in the USA you can use ground beef or hambuger meat.
Peppers: The type of peppers used are Bell peppers
Spring onions: If you're in the USA these are called scallions/green onions
