Make the eggy mixture: Whisk the eggs and milk together, along with a pinch of salt and pepper, in a wide bowl or baking tray.
Melt the butter: Heat half of the butter in a large frying pan over a medium high heat.
Fry: Place the slices of bread in the egg mixture for a few seconds on each side, then place in the pan.
Flip over, add more butter: Cook for 30 seconds or so until crispy and golden, then carefully flip and cook on the other side. Add the rest of the butter when you flip the slices over. (If your pan isn’t big enough for all the slices at once, cook them in batches, only soaking the bread just before you fry it.)
Serve with or without toppings: Serve hot with your favourite savoury breakfast ingredients.
