The circus has come to town! The John Lawson Human Circus comes to our village a couple of times a year and it’s here in Hagley now until 31st October for a spook-tacular show. We got out Halloween kit on and went for a visit. (There’s a little video below to give you a ghoulish taste too.)
Now, given that my two tots are not keen on the dark or loud noises and the boy one was not in the mood to dress up (note the grumpy pumpkin below), this could have been a disaster.
However, something happened when we got into the Big Top. After an initial fluffy of confusion about why we were spending Sunday morning in a giant darkened tent, they were totally engrossed. The grumpy pumpkin especially.
The show was an hour long and packed with a mixture of acrobats and magic tricks. For my tiny two the show was just a touch too long, but I managed to ply them with sandwiches to keep them sitting still (ish). The slap-stick clown comedy was perfect toddler humour and we loved watching the skeleton soar above the ring on the aerial silks.
Before we left, there was just time for a dreadful family photo, suitable for the Halloween album. (Note that the Hobgoblin has not yet mastered accessorising – pfftt.)
There is something totally magical about the circus and we loved our haunting taste of it..
How are you celebrating Halloween? And, does anyone else secretly have delusions that they could be an acrobat with a bit of practise..? Just me? Oh…

Haha, that pumpkin face… Priceless! Looks like a good night out with the family. I’ve not taken the kids to the circus yet. Something to think about. Xx
