Every year, a little bit of Germany comes to set up camp in Birmingham city centre. It’s teeming with people and a bit over-priced but I love it. To me, a mug of Gluhwein and a sausage, now mean Christmas is officially on the way.
The little (and some not so little) wooden huts run all the way from the Bullring up New Street and to Centenary Square.
There are stalls selling pretty handmade bits and bobs..
Twinkly festive nic naks..
And food. A LOT of food.
These are solid chocolate ‘rusty tools’, neat huh?
These little trays of deliciousness are amazing. They are little bubbles of pancakes topped with Nutella. We had them as a quick sharpener on our walk around the stalls.
There’s some street entertainment going on..
These sticky garlic-y potatoes and mushrooms are my favourite. So simple but a totally delicious carb fest whilst standing in the cold.
This giant grill is a hub of activity. If you’re in the market for a German sausage, this is where the magic happens.
We opted for smoked bratwurst with a pile of onions.
Ever committed to getting our 5 a day we wandered around the corner and stopped for chocolate covered fruit on a stick.
My very dear friend Naomi got stuck in..
We rounded off our lunchtime visit with the star of the show, the mugs of steaming Gluhwein. We gossiped and talked about how much has changed in the year since we’d last visited, how much we’re looking forward to Christmas and what we’re hoping for in 2014.
Christmas is coming! What makes you start to feel festive?!
