I work hard trying to be as efficient as possible. I do online shopping on my phone whilst stirring dinner, I walk at 100 miles an hour (or thereabouts) and I drink smoothies so I’ve had 4 of my 5 a day before 8am.
Today, I was trying to rake up leaves whilst two small people were emptying them out of the trug I was filling. I spent a while explaining that we needed to get the leaves where they were meant to be. Then I noticed that they were howling with laughter. I watched for a while and then couldn’t quite remember why I was hurrying. So I can spend more time relaxing to recover from rushing? Part of the need to be efficient is probably down to personality and part habit; it’s been rather a necessity in my slightly chaotic life.
Anyway, they were having fun undoing everything I was doing. I decided not to rush. Not to not worry about how efficient we were at leaf collecting. We kicked and jumped, we piled the leaves and ran around in them. We cleared half as much as I would’ve done normally, but we laughed a lot (and they were suitably exhausted for bedtime).
So, I’m making a resolution to worry less about being efficient. There, I’ve made a new year’s resolution and it’s not even December. How efficient is that?
~ This post is also my entry to The Gallery on the theme of November as my November can be summed up in leaf collecting and play.. ~
